Fire Extinguisher Training

Tackling a fire, safely and effectively at the early stage of its development can be the difference between the catastrophic loss of life and business or just a minor disruption to services.  Therefore it is essential that all staff in your workplace know how to use a fire extinguisher with competence in an emergency situation.

Our fire extinguisher training enables staff to confidently tackle a small workplace fire in its early stages helping to prevent escalation and unnecessary damage and disruption.

Customers can choose from two options in fire extinguisher training that can be delivered as a stand-alone course or can be included with any of the other fire safety packages offered by MB Fire.  The two options for training are:

Option 1

Practical fire extinguisher training where students will be given instruction on:

  • The classification of fires
  • Types of Extinguishers
  • The safe use of Extinguishers

The course consists of a mix of theory based training followed by practical hands on training with extinguishers, giving students the opportunity to discharge them (venue restrictions may apply) and demonstrate the techniques they have been taught during the course.

Option 2

Practical fire extinguisher training where students will be given instruction on:

  • The classification of fires
  • Types of extinguishers
  • The safe use of extinguishers
  • Live fire extinguishing techniques (including the use of fire blankets)

The course consists of a mix of theory-based training followed by practical hands on training with extinguishers giving students the opportunity to discharge them (venue restrictions may apply) on a live fire simulator demonstrating the techniques they have been taught during the course.

Evacuation Aid Training

Under current fire safety legislation (The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005), it is a requirement of the ‘The Responsible Person’  to provide a fire safety risk assessment. The assessment must include an emergency evacuation plan which takes into account all likely occupants (including occupants with disabilities) The Fire Risk Assessment must clearly state how the evacuation plan will be implemented.

“Such an evacuation plan should not rely upon the intervention of the Fire and Rescue Service to make it work”.

Albac Mats are a recognised leader in evacuation aids for health care providers and by adopting just two types of evacuation aid (Albac Mat & Bariatric Mat) across a workplace will give more flexibility in providing business services and helping to maintain the inclusion of all service user types whilst conforming to DDA regulations.

Training is delivered within the specific workplace and can be purchased as an independent package (see training costs) or included within other training packages such as fire awareness training (if included within a separate training package a discount will be applied)

Course content:

  • Fire Safety Legislation
  • Construction and Limitations of the Albac Mat
  • When Evacuation Aids should be used
  • Safe deployment and use of the Albac Mat
  • Changes of level

Duration:

This 2 hour training session is delivered on site using PowerPoint presentations.
